Divorce with Kids: What’s a Sacred Covenant Got to Do With It?

There is really no other moment in the world like that first moment you connect with your child – whether in utero, upon his/her birth, or when you first see or hold your child. Words are inadequate to describe the feelings of awe and wonder, of love and adoration, of blessings and miracles. Parents talk about how they never knew their heart could love another so fully.

When each of my children was born, I was in complete awe and amazement at the incredible beauty of the moment and of them. All I could do was to hold them and stare in their beautiful eyes. It wasn’t until years later, when struggling in my co-parenting relationship, that I realized that at that moment I had spontaneously and naturally made a set of agreements with my kids – what I now call “A Sacred Covenant.”
